The Steiger workshop was founded in 1932 by Walter Steiger "father", a master shoemaker specialized in both men's and women's made-to-measure shoes.
In 1966, Walter Steiger Jr. launched the first Steiger Ready-to-Wear shoe collection inspired by the trends of the 1960s Parisian couture houses.
The aim was a revelation: the use of traditional manufacturing methods to create the most innovative designs in the fashion world.
The first Steiger boutique opened its doors in Paris in 1974.
THE GOLD LINING
Steiger’s collection exclusively features the distinctive "golden lining" which has been our signature for many years.
THE SMOKING BOW
This revolutionary men's inspired loafer was introduced in the early 1970’s. Since then, the bow has become a characteristic element of Steiger.
THE STEIGER CLAW
The iconic curved heel has been a trademark of the brand since the 1960’s. In 1973, it became famous when chosen by Karl Lagerfeld for his Chloe runway show.
Today, it's still a trait of Steiger collections.
Steiger seeks to complement his architectural designs with women's silhouettes, creating a clean geometrical harmony.
"My research consists of ways to bring new proportions and shapes to the world of fashion; decorating shoes has never been my thing."
